GEOTHERMICA ERA-NET under H2020 has finished

GEOTHERMICA has now completed 5 years of productive and collaborative cooperation and has officially ended as a European Commission Initiative. GEOTHERMICA as a transnational funding scheme and knowledge-sharing platform for geothermal projects and results, was conceived in 2017. It was officially kicked off in early 2017 as a five-year initiative between funding partners from 16 countries under H2020. 

Since then, the GEOTHERMICA consortium has grown to 18 countries/regions (including the USA and Norway).  GEOTHERMICA consortium and its granted projects in Call1 and Call2 succeeded in providing excellent results, impacting on the geothermal research and innovation community, industry and society. 

The final review of the project took place in Reykjavik in June 2022 with the attendance of all partners and the project officer from CINEA, Ms Filipa Vieira Matias. The team provided an overview and a detailed report on what GEOTHERMICA has envisaged and what it has achieved. 

The GEOTHERMICA project concept is not closing but transitioning into an international initiative. More news on this will follow with the stakeholders in early 2023. The projects started in Call2, and Joint Call 2021 are ongoing and will be supported by the GEOTHERMICA consortium until their finalisation.
