Season´s greetings

As 2025 comes to a close, the GEOTHERMICA Initiative would like to extend warm holiday wishes to our partners, funding agencies, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders across Europe and beyond.

Looking back at 2025

This year marked another important step forward for geothermal cooperation in Europe. In 2025, the GEOTHERMICA Initiative:

  • Continued monitoring and supporting projects funded under Joint Call 2021, ensuring steady progress and alignment with research and innovation goals.
  • Strengthened collaboration and knowledge exchange among national funding agencies, research institutions, and project partners.
  • Expanded networking, dissemination, and policy engagement activities, including workshops, conferences, and high-level meetings promoting geothermal solutions.
  • Deepened cooperation with national authorities and international partners, including active engagement during the Polish Presidency, as well as meetings and workshops in Vienna and Krakow.
  • Reinforced GEOTHERMICA’s role as a key European platform for coordinated geothermal research, innovation, and policy dialogue.

These achievements were only possible thanks to the continued commitment, trust, and collaboration of our member countries and partners.

Looking ahead to 2026

In 2026, GEOTHERMICA will build on this strong foundation by:

  • Continuing coordination and follow-up of Joint Call 2021 projects.
  • Strengthening links between research, policy, and implementation.
  • Supporting new collaborative initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Further advancing geothermal energy as a cornerstone of Europe’s clean energy transition.

Together, we will continue to advance geothermal energy across Europe.

We wish you peaceful holidays and a successful, collaborative New Year.
