Call 2 2019

GEOTHERMICA's second call's objective was to launch projects that accelerate the piloting, demonstration, and validation of novel concepts for geothermal energy supply within the energy system and to identify paths to commercial deployment. Projects may also address research that is oriented toward novel concepts and paths to commercialization.

Moreover, GEOTHERMICA's consortium has broadened for a second Call, with Norway and the USA joining. GEOTHERMICA's weight and influence accelerate the development of geothermal energy not only in Europe but, owing to the close alignment of research priorities and the complementarity of skills and facilities, also increasingly globally.

In this second additional call, seven projects were funded, four as Type A- large trans-national demonstration projects with a total budget of €19 million, and three Type B- smaller trans-national research and innovation projects with a total budget of €5 million.

The total budget for this second additional joint call is around M€ 39-, of which the GEOTHERMICA Call 2 Consortium supports 61%.
