The GEOTHERMICA Initiative (GI) plays a unique role in the geothermal sector by fostering broad, inclusive collaboration while facilitating coordinated public research and innovation programs to accelerate geothermal energy deployment. GI brings together representatives from national geothermal research and innovation programmes to support the international research and innovation community.

GEOTHERMICA – ERA-NET Cofund has already supported fifteen high-quality transnational projects on geothermal energy in its Call1 and Call2. The total investment in the projects is close to M€90. GEOTHERMICA funds about half, and the other half comes from project partners.
